What does a vehicle engineer assess and certify?
We assess vehicle modifications against engineering and compliance requirements. That can include checking design changes, preparing reports, supporting approvals, and certifying work so your vehicle is safe, legal, and ready for registration or use.
When is an engineering certificate required for your vehicle?
If your modification affects safety, load capacity, suspension, brakes, towing, or other regulated items, you may need engineering certification. The exact requirement depends on your vehicle, the modification, and the state or territory rules. Send us the details and we can advise.
How long does the engineering process take?
Timeframes vary depending on the complexity of the project and the documentation required. Straightforward inspections may be completed quickly, while more complex engineering assessments or custom modifications require additional analysis and documentation.
Furthermore, difference in wait times are dependent on the regulatory body providing the approval. Each State and Territory has its own body, as does the federal system.
What information should I provide when requesting a quote?
To help us assess your project, please provide:Vehicle make, model and yearVIN (if available)Registration stateA description of the proposed modificationsPhotos of the vehicle (if modified)Any relevant manufacturer or installer documentation
Should you speak to us before modifying your vehicle?
Yes. Contact us before you start the work. We can review your plans, check the likely compliance requirements, and tell you whether engineering approval or certification may be needed before the modification goes ahead.
What documents should I have ready for an inspection or quote?
Have your vehicle details, registration details, modification list and any existing paperwork ready. If you have suspension, tyre, brake or accessory specifications, include those too. This helps us assess the job faster and give accurate advice.
Do you work Australia-wide?
Yes. We are based in Darwin but service clients across Australia as we have a national network of vehicle inspectors. The engineering work and approval process are handled to suit the state or territory where the vehicle is registered.
Who can do the modifications to my vehicle?
